I'm new to all this but learning alot and i'm sort of stuck.
I Jb my ps3 with no probs. installed manager.pkg
I downloaded Warhawk, and many other ps3 games. I extract them and dump them into a usb stick formatted FAT32.
on the usb stick is a folder named, GAMEZ/
so in this example i put warhawk on there.
    so its /GAMEZ/BCES00008
under that folder is PS3_GAME and a file PS3_DISC.SFB

I connect the usb stick to my ps3 on the XMB I see Playstation 3 Titles, click on it then I see Backup Manager.
I launch backup manager as I see 2 titles, the game in my bluray, street fighter and warhawk
I press X to load Warhawk, screen goes black and it returns me to the XMB.

I now see Warhawk, I launch the game but get an "install error"
I click X to proceed and the game starts installing. few minutes later says its done with message I must restart my system to play the game.

Does a restart mean to turn system off or to quit game? I tried both ways but when the system boots back up with the JB dongle the game warhawk is not listed on the XMB to play. where did it go? I can see backup manager is there but i gota install the game all over again.

    What am I doing wrong?
can anyone shed some light on this.
note: if i launch “/app_home/PS3_GAME/”. it comes back with an error so i'm unable to get this app to work but backup manager seems to work even though its odd to get an install error even before it installs.

http://PS3JBList.com i check her and verify game is valid for JB
some games install then play fine but other games like warhawk just don't play after the install

    huh?
    are you serious
than whats the point of a forum that talks about mod chips
mod chips and jailbreaking are for one purpose alone

i'm not asking to find a game, where to get it

i'm asking about the package manager and why some games fail to install

the forums here are flowing overboard in discussion about methods to jailbreak

but truth be known i've yet to find threads about problems in regards to games not loading or installing

You will find no mention of downloaded games on the board (or if you do they will soon be deleted). All references are to backup copies of games where people have the original discs.

Also in reference to the jailbreaking and copied games, there are a million uses for an open PS3 including media centre, emulator of other systems, file server (something I'm slowly working on - different to FTP server), Linux box, etc etc etc.

In reference to your problem though, try installing a legitimate backup to your USB stick then booting that one first. If you can do that then chances are there is something wrong with the setup of your other games.
