I have searched everywhere, but cannot find the hex file for this model. The only one that shows up is for the ATMEGA32u4. Will the same hex file work?

The Atmega32U2 is really the same as the At90usb162, so the file for it should work. (At least that is what I get from reading the Atmel docs).
Look for Teensy v1.0 hex file as that is for the at90usb162.
The only thing to double-check is the speed (the default on most boards is 16mhz, but some are only 8mhz), look at the crystal on your board and see if it says 8mhz or 16mhz, and make sure the file you grab is for that rated speed!
anyone know where I can find the diver for Atmega32u2? I am using vista x64
C:\Program Files\Atmel\Flip 3.4.1\usb
I tried that and it says windows cannot find software
