Homebrew contest & File Hosting
Homebrew contest & File Hosting –
Sorry if its in the wrong location... just seemed like the most appropriate.
I've had some time and been working on my homebrew store again. I've improved the admin panel for developers to update their own homebrew. The catch is many developers are hesitant to link the homebrew store because its not part of the site (psx-scene in this case). Its pretty frustrating to work on something and then have to worry about internet turf wars (i really feel this holds the whole scene back) ... so I figured I would just come on here and ask.
Is psx-scene ok with developers linking to their app in the homebrew store for download? As the store is hosting the files (hopefully all legal) we dont have to worry about more megaupload clones going down with developer files.
1) Hopefully if more developers can release / link to the store it will help spread awareness. Which should help get more developers to upload their content. This means less and less manual maintenance. Hopefully the scene can run the store by itself.
2) I have been going back and forth with deroad to get his ps3 native front end working with my homebrew database backend. IMO this would be a nice feature for jailbroken ps3s. I also have been talking to a few other ps3 devs.
The hope is that this moves the scene forward in some way.
Btw - (here's my limited plug) - anyone that wants to help in terms of submission, time, graphics, or anything else please LMK.
Always good to hear from you friend. I know I appreciate your site, and the time and effort you put into it. We here at PSX-Scene are definitely anti-site wars. We are home to possibly the largest source of PSX scene wealth, so it is only right that we maintain certain standards and try to set a good example for others to follow.
I see no reason why devs cannot link here and there. And as you stated, with the whole file sharing fiasco currently going on, the scene is in need of a backup plan. Like they always say, it is going to get worse before it gets better.
I hope that devs will like your plans, because they sound good to me... especially the plan you have the deroad. I think the scene has been wanting an option like this for a long time now.
I also believe your site is a great value to the scene, and is not like any of the other scene sites. You really offer something special with your "ps3 store" site, and I am really hoping to see you make a comeback that you deserve. I remember when everything was perfect on the ps3 scene (no drama at that time), and your site was always a great place to go for all the latest downloads.
The main concern devs will have, is they want feedback. So for instance, if a dev has a download at your site, he might want it linked back to another site where he can offer support and help in his home environment (like here, or other sites.)
tthousand its always a pleasure hearing from you .
I really appreciate the kind words about the site. Just did a quick add for a developer site link. As a FYI in testing it I realized that the download for Rogero Manager on its psx-scene thread is linking multiupload and thus not working. Lmk if you have any other suggestions or feedback at all.
I really appreciate the help and am looking forward to getting this stuff going. I will also make sure to link back to psx-scene whenever possible, especially to get people to come vote on the homebrew contests
