Yeah, that should work great 'cause now the jailbreak actually loads and shows a green light, and no "unknown USB device" appears. I think it's just not patching the right things in memory for this firmware. I'm gonna try AerialX's USB load fork on it as well if someone compiles it for ATAVRXPLAIN before the new PSgroove comes out

Reason: I'm OCD lol
i too just got one of these what can i do with it in regards of the jailbreak
Not much. You CAN get the jailbreak to execute on the system(Green light, no "unknown USB device" so virtual usb code is running), but nothing is changed :/ We need someone to write a different payload that works on kiosk/demo systems. Wish I could do that kinda thing:P
Also, this: http://i56.tinypic.com/2z4h5sp.jpg is the "Install Package Files" that is on the demo unit by default. Jailbroken or not, it always gives "An error occurred during the install operation. (80029567)" which makes me think that the problem is the check for signed packages is not being patched correctly.
who is the best person to pass the task onto
with a nexus one who turn hermes the debug menu doesn't appear to.
Sorry. Me i bought a new ps3 just because i m dam on this demonstration mode.
Although the PS3 Demonstration Unit is locked into demonstration mode, you can unlock this mode by entering a secret unlock code (those with firmware less than version 1.5 need not enter code). To unlock, navigate the XMB and highlight the Settings->Security Settings icon. Then press and hold these four buttons: L2, R2, Select, and Square. If the PS3 has firmware less than 1.5, the machine should be unlocked from demonstration mode. For firmware 1.5 and greater, you will be prompted to enter a four digit security code. Depending on the firmware installed (displayed on the corner of the screen), the codes are (NTSC and PAL PS3 may have different codes for a given firmware):
PS3 Demo UnLock Codes:
v1.5x code: 5202 NTSC
v1.6x code: 7568
v1.7x code: 0506
v1.8x code: 7712 or 7259
v1.9x code: 2737 NTSC
v2.00 code: 0219
v2.01 code: 0219
v2.10 code: 2464
v2.20 code: 4801
v2.30 code: 6558
v2.41 code: 9015 NTSC
v2.42 code: 9015 NTSC
v2.50 code: 6258
v2.60 code: 8783
v2.70 code: 7164
v2.80 code: 7897
v3.00 code: 2310
v3.01 code: 2310
v3.10 code: 5081
v3.15 code: 5081
v3.21 code: 7818
v3.30 code: 3512
v3.40 code: 2998
v3.41 code: 2998
Edit: Guess this is just a temporary thing, sorry
OK, so for now it cannot run Jailbreak, but.. can a Demo Mode with 3.15 (or before) run OtherOs ?
@JoeBanks I don't think demo units ever allowed that option, or even folding at home :/
@Dofu that should prolly help some who come across this topic anyways and you can change the code, I always change it to 0000
