Hey everyone. I have one of the original 60GB PS3's, running demo mode firmware (i.e. came from a store kiosk). Has anyone else tried jailbreaking their demo PS3 who has one? I can't get it to work at all. (Note: the demo PS3 turns on as soon as you plug it in/flip back switch, may be part of the issue) I'm using the ATAVRXPLAIN board with patched PSGroove 1.1.... can anyone help me?

Yeah... just tried it again now... still nothing. It doesn't even turn on until you hear the startup sound on the PS3... then "unknown USB device" appears...

It's on 3.41, but it's the "For Shop" version of the firmware, where it starts in demonstration mode, and you have to enter a code to go out of that mode, and you can't use PlayStation Store.. there's no way to put retail firmware on them right now as far as I know...

Hmmmm, I'd say try putting a different hard drive in it, then when it asks you for update data (firmware) insert the retail 3.41 via USB.

That's just off the top of my head...Too tired to make any decent suggestions mate.

    Sorry...

#Xeauron I might try that, kinda doubt it will work though. Thanks for trying to help me anyway, I appreciate it

I'm starting to think the demo firmware will need it's own exploit/tweaked PSGroove exploit for this. Maybe when someone decrypts the demo firmware

#eddie3130 there will be eventually most likely.

#juggalomars They send these to retailers like Best Buy, Gamestop, Walmart, etc. They aren't *supposed* to sell them, but they often get sold when a store goes out of business. I got mine on eBay (was a great deal for the price, and I really wanted full PS2 compatibily

    I made it work!

I have to have a disc in the drive, and then turn off the PS3.
Then turn it on again and turn it off right after the dvd drive starts reading.
When you flip it on again it won't do the "auto start up" thing, it stays red. Then I got the jailbreak to boot up and work!

Unfortunately the "Install Package Files" isn't showing under games though, and the option in "Settings" still can't install packages either. Maybe the new universal firmware jailbreak will work for me...
