Has anyone successfully fixed a rsod ps3 by downgrading?
I was wondering if anyone had any luck fixing rsod with the downgrade, I remember reading a while back that service mode could potentially allow re-writing the nand and allow a repair on rsod units. I have managed to get the unit into service mode (It still red screens but takes longer to boot and I get sony music and background screen for a few seconds before the red screen whereas in normal mode there’s no music or background).
I also know I successfully downgraded as even though the ps3 still red screens I am able to go into recovery mode and select update firmware where it states that I need to insert media with 2.50 or higher firmware instead of 3.50 or higher.
I have so far tried - 2.50, 3.01, 3.15 and 3.41 but still red screen, I also tried 2.15 debug but that caused a firmware update error as stated in the log file created on the usb stick and the ps3 doesn't boot. I also tried updating via the recovery mode and still get to around 42-44% before it finished and restarts to a red screen, finally I tried all the options in the recovery mode a few times with no luck.
I own an 80gb eu fat ps3 and thought that we could share what we have tried so far and success rate etc as I don't see a specific topic regarding this (only some pretty old rsod threads). Oh and I use rockbox on an ipod video to downgrade.
Thanks in advance for any input :D
