    Guys,

I've been looking arround in the forum but i did not see a topic about the next question i got on the use of the Homebrew FTP program

So my question is can u use the FTP program to backup your Game directly from the BD drive to your internal PS3 HD ?

If yes is this alot faster then using the Backup manager.
And can i use flashfxp for this or do i need to use another ftp program on my pc

    Regards,

    Zero

I don't believe you can use FTP to rip games direct from the BD, as the files are encrypted (Namely eboot.bin), this is how I understand it, I could very possibly be wrong.

Not sure why you wouldn't just use Backup Manager on the PS3 (Faster) anyways

Indeed, this is a bit of a strange question. IF it were possible, and it isnt...from what i have read, the disc layer is encrypted, and backup manager is decrypting it while ripping the game.

Why do u asume its faster??? Its not even possible. How can u let and ftp program do the work of a bluray rip program ? Thats just weird :S

Its like trying to repair your broken window with a shoe....its ridiculous lol

well actually you CAN do it, i have done it with burnout paradise, and yes the files are encrypted but if you play the game on the same ps3 then it doesnt matter. and yes it is faster to copy games from the BD instead of using the backup manager. but i have only tried it with burnout paradise.

So you're copying them straight from BDD to internal HDD on ps3?

no i am copying them from the bdd to my pc then to the internal hdd, on games like ff13 ( 40gb) it took about 15-30min to copy them from the bdd to my pc and then about 5 mins to copy it to my ps3 internal drive. i acutally store all my ps3 backups on a ntfs hdd just so if i sell my games then i still have a copy.

Why would you want to do this?

I know you could do it with the original Xbox but I always found it to be more trouble than it was worth.

Maybe they don't have enough space on internal and don't have external HD so they can just skip a step
