    And if they do, do you just transfer them to the same directory as you would with ps3 games on the internal drive and load them up just like ps3 games?

    the only way right now it's this way:
    and it's only for BC consoles... -_-

    PS3

    You need to have a retail SwapMagic 3.6+ or 3.8 disc. (currently there is no other option available)

    The steps for loading Open PS2 Loader :

    1. Rename OPS2LD.ELF to SMBOOT0.ELF
    2. Make a folder in the root of a USB device, name it SWAPMAGIC and copy the SMBOOT0.ELF into it.
    3. Launch SwapMagic in your PS3 and press UP+L1, then Open PS2 Loader should start.

    SwapMagic has 4 options to run an ELF file, so you can use any of them if you have other ELFs your also using with SwapMagic.

    SMBOOT0.ELF = UP + L1
    SMBOOT1.ELF = UP + L2
    SMBOOT2.ELF = UP + R1
    SMBOOT3.ELF = UP + R2

    so we would only need to find a way to run elf files?
    like creating a homebrew like uLaunchELF (ps2) for the ps3 and then start opl?!

    seems quite easy for a coder

    old thread check the dates, we never could get it to work that's why it was experimental. multiMan runs from XMB, when playing a PS2 game XMB is exited in turn no more mount

    Not entirely true, there is one more way. The PS3 does disc checks on the XMB once a disc is inserted. You can (BC models only) use the same disc swap trick as with the PS2. It requires taking apart your PS3 so you have access to the disc drive and inserting an original PS2/PS1 disc. Power up the system, once it shows 'Playstation 2(1) format disc', swap the disk for a backup before loading the game. It is a major PITA, but I have had a 100% sucess rate by using Sonic Mega Collection + as my original copy.

    Edit: Read again, SnoopDo2G is right as far as only way running backups from the HDD goes. This method requires backup discs.

    You will NEVER BE ABLE to play Playstation 2 Games on Not-BC consoles over xmb BECAUSE a very important chip is missing in these machines which are required to play Ps2 Games.
    Maybe you could play ps2 games in future on not-bc consoles, but this would take use of an emulator and nothing f*cking else.
