Ok guys... tell me what you think.....
i was walking around Comgenie.. clicking the Directories.. when i came across this little folder.. surely this has something to do with being able to have backwards capes???
in the DIR they have
im no Dev myself.. but maybe this has something to do with the genius BC?? BTW im using Geohot CFW 3.55 Slim!
hate to break it to you, but you're far from the first to find these files
I'm sure there are top men working on this right now.
// God Hates Us All
lol.. yeah i knew i wasnt the first.. but just nice to know what other people are thinking.. secretly i was hoping C* would comment to see his side of it

remember, the consoles that do actually have BC are consoles that have the PS2 chips on the motherboard.
thats complete bull shit, Sony could release a BC update at anytime, for any console if they wanted too. All the consoles have more than enough processing power to power an emu

it's pretty obvious.
have you seen the ps2 emu's for the PC? they hardly work at all unless you have an exceptional rig. keep in mind the ps3 only has like 256 ram, hardly enough to emulate the entire processor and gpu of a ps2 (which are quite complicated themselves)
keep in mind the ps3 runs on the CELL PPC architecture and the PS2 is MIPS
The 60gig BC had both ps2 hardware emulation, and ps2 software emulation.
ive read that the hardware emulation bc ps3's run games alot smother and faster then soft EMU ps3's.
but to say that current gen ps3's cant run ps2 emu is silly.
can it run it sufficiently is a better question...
The point is these binarys wont run on a non BC PS3 not is it capable of running a PS2 emu.
even the PS3 60GB SKU that is usually they called software emulation on PS2 capabilities.
the only thng emulated on there is the Graphic Synthesizer... anything else are hardware controlled.. not completely software controlled.
All of them say emu but except for the one that says softemu, I think the rest rely on hardware. So here is a rough guess of each file does
ps2_emu.self - uses EE hardware on launch NTSC consoles
ps2_softemu.self - uses EE software emulation on launch PAL consoles and 80GB ones
ps2_gxemu.self - uses GS hardware on all BC capable consoles
Maybe some genius will write gxsoftemu or something and bring universal PS2 compatibility. But looking at PCSX2, I think its best to get a used PS2 if you have a slim or 40gb fat.
