    Hello all,

I am fairly new here, and did not see a thread regarding this, but thought it would be pretty cool if possible. There are a lot of games that could use a playlist like GTA4, Skate 1-3, and various other "open world" games that i would like to add my own music tracks to. Is it possible within the Game Data files that I can include my music? Are the audio files used for PS3 games a different format. Maybe I could convert the songs/tracks I like and simply add them to a specific folder. Does anyone have any information on this. Hopefully this will start a thread that could provide some answers. Thanks for any help in advance.

that link only showed one other topic and it was not a very good one at that, i too was wondering this because if you use an sfo editor you can modifie to sfo file and there is a tickbox in the sfo editor that says "allow in game xmb(music)" does that work or no?

Nice, never noticed that in SFO editor.. I know FIFA 11 apparently has "Custom soundtracks", wonder if it'd be possible to edit that into another EBOOT.BIN or something. I'll try that feature in the SFO editor and report back!

EDIT: Just tried and can't find the option in SFO editor 0.80, although "more options" is greyed out.

I tested this with several games months ago. It does not work. At best,(like in gta4) after you enable it it says music cannot be played right now- will start automatically after a while. In many games, it changes nothing at all. One thing I noticed is that not all games that have custom soundtracks even have this selected. Perhaps the answer could be in the eboot, I dont know enough about eboots to know what types of flags are in there. Maybe if we could find a good example of a flag within a game that is set to on for custom soundtracks, we could just implement this file into other games. I am starting to have doubts about this being easily done, as I know devs realize this is something that people want. I think if this were even relatively simple, we would have it by now, but I havn't even read of a single game being made to play custom soundtracks that wouldnt already. I do hope we get this though. There are some games I cant wait to play with it. I cannot belive rockstar didnt implement them into gta4. Even now they could add the "mp3 player" which was almost completed but never released, as downloadable content if they wanted to, but they dont. I wonder how many people would even pay 20 bucks for it. I know I would for that game, I love the game but HATE the soundtrack.

I might have a look at the GT5 or NFSHP Eboot and see what I find.

I was also thinking, for games that have their own music, I'm gonna try rename / convert my music and replace what's there.. Worth a shot I guess!

Why waste time trying to edit GT5's soundtrack? Just put some music on your PS3 hard drive, make a playlist and have GT5 use that for both your menu and in-race music...it's already a feature in the game.

Any demoes on the PSN that DON'T support custon soundtracks, but the final does? How about looking the files for things like that (if any). Or games that had it patched in? Look at the files before the patch and than after and see what the devs changed.

I think he was just responding to my post about checking eboots of games that are known to have custom soundtracks to see if we can replicate the feature in another game. Still, what we really need to check is a game that plays them without a playlist straight from the xmb. If we can find the flag in the eboot (or somewhere else in the game), perhaps we can reimplement it in other games. I would rather see this feature realised at this point then to have another backup manager or the 5th version of a cfw. Not that I dont appreciate where we are and everthing thats happened since the scene started, it just bugs me that I can put a plugin on my psp thats less than 100kb, and it plays all my mp3s in game. If such a small amount of code can force it to work on the psp, why can't it be done on the ps3?
