Custom Firmware and PS2 emulator?

Since the born of these jailbreak system i've heard a lot about tyhe real possibility of a custom firmware and psx -ps2 emulator.

I'm asking to hackers in this community: any news about it? Is there the possibility to have an emulator of PS2 working in this year?

FFS, Use the search function! THERE IS NO PS2 EMU, 60GB units had the EE and GS chips
80GB untits only had one of the two and the emulator made up for the lack of the other one. Slims / 20GB / 40GB CANNOT Play PS2 games end of story. Emulating a PS2 is VERY hard, the PC version aint great either on a quad core monster. Sorry guys it aint gonna happen. a PS2 costs $20 now, go buy one, or three. The PS1 emu works because it's chips arn't hard to emulate. OFW/ CFW it aint gonna happen. This must be the 1,000,000th thread asking for a PS2 Emu. Resarch your subject before posting lads.

20GB models CAN play PS2 discs. They were one of the original release models.

The only thing I have found different while looking in the dev_flash of my Slim and my 60GB phat, is that there are some PS2 related sprx's missing. The emulation .SELFs are still present, but the lack of the sprx's tells the PS3 that it's not compatible with PS2 titles. Sadly, with the current CFW's available, write access to the flash is blocked, so I can't just copy the files over...

PCSX2 user here. There have been numerous advances and speed-ups over the past year. You no longer need a brick-shithouse of a computer to run the emu (though it helps) and, indeed, the emu only uses dual-thread. Quads don't matter.

I could totally see the emu working on the PS3 if someone took the time to do a quality port.

A PS2 emu is a better solution if it works. It will RENDER, not upscale, your ps2 games in HD. They look ten times better properly rendered and texture filtered on an emu.

You should have said online then. I can't think of any stores offline that sells a ps2 for that cheap. $50-100 maybe.
