Backup Manager and newer games

New here but been following it from the start and not seen anyone ask about this or mention it.

anyway what i wanted to know was with newer games released in the coming weeks/months with the 3.42 update included

will we be required to update to play them?

just asking as it's the same with the xbox360 or can we use our own rips and copy over a older update to trick the ps3 into thinking we have a newer update than on disc?

or does the mode we go into not require updates?

also can we rip games? remove languages we don't need use to reduce space used or replace them with 0kb dummy files?

I don't think anyone knows what will happen in the future with new game releases unless they work at Sony

it depends on the title as far as i know, some games even require you to be connected to PSN. i think we're all waiting to see the results of editing the SFO file of a game that requires 3.42+, which is incredibly easy.

if i had to guess, i think we'll be able to backup new games, but playing them is a different feat. i think sony will release a new fw that will check the required fw version differently. who knows though, time will tell.
