    Hi Guys

New to psx-scene, have just got my PS3 back after two years, and was very happy to find that the PS3 had been hacked. Great work guys!

Anyway, just wondering if anyone is working on and if anyone will ever work on a torrent app for PS3.

I've only got a laptop, live in the Philippines and would think it would be great if I could leave it downloading movie torrents (legitimate of course) while I go to work, so I could use them with Showtime, which is what I mainly use my PS3 for now.

    Just wondering thats all

    Thanks

    Jon

Movie Torrent ? and what it has to do with PS3 ?

second why we would need a torrent for PS3 ?

there are many apps and they are not too much big in size

and remember any links to copyright material or Piracy is not allowed here .

Its not a strange thing to ask, there is also a torrent program made for the psp and there is a use for the ps3 too.
This was asked a little while ago too, but the post got closed very fast because mods/admins connect torrents directly with pirated stuff.

    my 2 cents

There must be a way, because I had MGS4 and it needed an update and offered a direct download or a torrent download for the update.

I also had to sign up to Konami, as it was needed for online play.

A torrent app would be step one. Then you'd have to overcome the hurdles of being able to extract said torrent. Don't forget, you might not know that the file you're extracting has a file over 4gb, so you'd also need the ability to select where it extracts to. Then you'd have to make sure the space is available on said device. Then you'd have to move the extracted file to somewhere that it could be used (Game to BM backup folder, Movie/Music to external, etc).

So, because of all of the above examples and the infancy of the PSLIGHT SDK, I'm going to say, "Don't get your hopes up."

Edit: Oh, just thought of another caveat. Most torrent sites (at least private ones) are now using Web 2.0 which isn't compatible w/ the PS3 browser (to the best of my knowledge).

If i may add, with most connections out there, do you really want to leave your ps3 on for over 4+ hours downloading to it on files that are big?
wouldnt bother me since i can download 12GB in just under 2 hours depending on the seeds.

I used to use "Minitorrent" through the PS3 browser.I never used it for acouple of years.I think there is a limit to the file size. There are Youtube videos showing how.

Your download speed would be exactly the same as it is if you were downloading with your computer. I don't see a point to it.

Unless you only own a ps3 will this wouldn't be useful. I can multitask on all my computers. If you get Linux running yes you could dl torrents. But chesh sumed it up nicely.

Ps3 can't use web2.0 or ipv6? I did'nt know that. From xmb web browser I assume you cannot connect to a ipv6 site?

My ps3 is never never online it's just for gaming and media.
