My wife's friend is going to swap me PS3's tomorrow, she hasn't updated since January Is there a recommended FW version? Just ANYTHING before 3.42 good or should I seek out a manual update to a certain number? Thanks for all of your help, you guys are one of the few helpful communities
HAS to be 3.41 won't work on any other firmware.

1.) Download the 3rd 3.41 update (the one that says "WOrks with psjailbreak") for your region (US=United States, JP=Japan, EU=Europe, UK, and Australia)
2.) download free MD5 Checksum Hash verifier here:
3.) Copy the MD5 from the eurasia site corresponding to the update you downloaded (ie. e07d2b84c9e9691c261b73e5f1aada20 for the one I mention above) run the MD5 tool, click the paste button (The above MD5 should paste into the first field now)
4.) Click browse, select the update file you downloaded. It'll take 10-30 seconds to decrypt the hash, depending on your machinem and then it'll say "The Codes Match!"
If you get matched code, go ahead and put the ps3updat.pup file onto a fat32 formatted USB drive, so it looks like this
Plug it into your PS3 and run update via USB/Storage Device, DO NOT update to 3.42/3.50,
This should pretty much cover it, once you're updated to 3.41 you're good to run the jailbreak,

hey new to the fourms, but have a question about grayscale ipods
after the steps, i restart ipod, plug it in, turn on ps3, start ps3, then hit eject, all i get from my ipod is usb keypad mode, multimedia...
and the install packages dont show up... is there soemthing i did wrong
in the tutorial it says to put the rockbox.ipod in the psgroove folder, which i did, but was under the impression that you were suppose to replace that with the rockbox.ipod in the rockbox folder
any help would be greatly appriciated so i can get my sega saturn on
Did you install and edited the loader.cfg file?

Gonna give it a go tomorrow. Thanks again, hopefully everything will work out this time lol
Also, does this support Backup Manager v2? Or do I need to stick with V1 and keep a retail game in the drive?
i just put loader.cfg in the root of my ipod
was there something else i needed to do with it?
also, thanks for the quick response man, i knew i wasnt the only one still up
Awesome news mate, now let's just hope they can pat out the compatibility issues being experienced, it will go a long way helping people with dud bluray drives. The work all of you guys are doing is totally priceless, well done, thank you, and keep up the good work,

Unless its stated for that particular hack,I'm certain all jailbreak hacks only works on firmware version 3.41 until further notice.
Do some reading first.
