YLOD diagnosis - Is the power supply my problem?
I bought a PS3 a week ago off ebay and now I have the YLOD. I've been searching around the internet but i'm pretty sure it isn't the motherboard that is the problem.
I tried to run the fan test on my ps3 and it simply won't do it. I hold the eject button and the flip the power switch on the back. It powers up and then shows the YLOD, just like when I try to power it up normally.
My PS3 is model CECHC03, one of the original 60gb phat models.
I'm hoping that it is the power supply, since its a cheap and easy fix. I'm guessing it could also be the fan, but when I start the PS3 up I can hear it starting up as usual, and then powering down when the error occurs. If it was the fan, surely I woudn't be able to hear it at all?
Should I buy a new power supply, or do you think the problem lies elsewhere? Is there any simple tricks to diagnose or resolve this kind of problem?
