Yet another HDD space issue

Hey guys........ Now i know that this is a sensative topic and i know it has been discussed in alot of threads so my apologize. HOWEVER i have read through lots of post an none seem to be the issue i am having. Ready????? Get this..... im running ROgero 4.30 v2 on a 320GB the hdd has i think 30 or 40GB free. so i desided to upgrade. i backed up my drive to my 1tb ext. did the sugested steps by rogero to upgrade the hdd i swaped with a 1.5TB the system did its thing reformated installed the OS and all of that good stuff with no prob. HERE is where it got interesting when i checked my hdd space it stated that i had 300+ GB free out of 1300+ wtf this is with a fresh format. i have not even restored my backup yet. so i said to myself hey that myst be how much is used and not free i can live with that. so i restored my backup now i have 80+GB free. WTF???????? Someone tell me what the hell is happening please......

Everything I've heard is that 1TB is the max size internal hard drive the PS3 will handle without issue.

there is alot of mixed comments on that. some say the max is 2TB. Like i said it does show that i have 1300+ GB drive but the fee space is nowhere near what it should be.

My understanding is 1TB for internal, 2TB for external.
