Would like advice on getting around firmware update force
Would like advice on getting around firmware update force –
I've tried searching but have not found a clear answer on this, so if this is common knowledge I apologize.
I do not use PSN, but would like to play newer games on my version 3.15 firmware, such as Undead Nightmare and Star Wars Force Unleashed II. Is this possible to do this with any of the usb keys? I don't want to upgrade my firmware.
Also, if there is a hardware or software fix, can someone post a reputable link to buying it, I would like whatever is the most reliable piece of hardware or software. Thanks for reading.
You'll want to at least upgrade to 3.41 if not 3.55 and do custom firmware. Not to worry though, you have better linux support in 3.41/3.55 then you ever had in 3.15 and if that's not good enough, then you can always downgrade back to 3.15 if you really feel the need. Other then that, there are versions of PL3 and Hermes payload for dev boards/usb dongles that work on 3.15, but I'd suspect you'd have to do a lot of your own patching to make the games work (if they even will) as staying on 3.15 wasn't that important for most users.

Thanks for the replies
Doesn't 3.41 remove the partition? Is there no downside to going to 3.41?
Is there no way to spoof the firmware version?

On 3.41, you can use a hex to spoof the firmware to 3.55
On 3.55, you can use rebug's spoofer to spoof the firmware to 3.60.
I would like to keep the partition, can any of the usb keys take care of this for me? I'm definitely leaning towards a turn key solution rather than something that's going to involve an hour or more of my time.
