Would leaving the bare BD Rom Board inside my PS3 cause problems?
I have a problem with my PS3 60GB (Launch) Console...
The laser failed on the drive, so I replaced it, no issue except it lasted about a month (white clip laser is crap so im told)
The PS3 went in the cupboard and has stayed there for about 6 months. All this new hoohah with CFW made me get it out. I played around with the backup managers and obviously realised a lot of my backups wouldnt play discless.
I have purchased a laser from ebay (brown clip model) and have fitted it. Upon putting drive together, it no longer takes discs in/out. Even with the old laser in, or the laser before that (which read DVD/CD still) I get nothing. No movement at all. The blue light flashes to acknowledge a disc is being inserted or removed, the laser moves up (just the lens, not the deck) but no motors, and no laser beam.
Before I purchased a new laser, I left just the bare drive board in the ps3 (to allow updating) for a month or so. Could this of caused any problems?
I have tried :
Restore, New HDD, Formatting, Restoring Database, New ribbon. all to no avail.
Regards, and thanks in advance
