Will a ps3 work on an LG L226WTQS Monitor?
Will a ps3 work on an LG L226WTQS Monitor? –

im planning to use a hdmi>dvi cable to hook it up on my monitor and set it to 720p. i've seen some websites that say it has hdcp, and some that says it doesn't have hdcp. well this monitor was manufactured in august of 2007. i was wondering if there was any revisions in the design.
if not how do you think this monitor would work on it? http://shop3.frys.com/product/570580...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG
thanks in advanced

An HDMI to DVI cable does not convert the color signal of the PS3 to RGB. PC monitors use the RGB colorspace. PS3 only supports the YUV aka YCrCb color space, commonly seen on DVD players as component video. Thus your monitor will not work with a PS3, unless it has a mode to accept YCrCb signals. This type of signal is also not usually supported by a monitor's DVI input. I've only ever seen very High end monitors that have a YCrCb input and that is usually only through the component input.
I have such a monitor and it was close to $1000. I have also tried to use the PS3 with every method I could think of to get it to output RGB, but it doesn't support it.
The cheapest way to fix the problem is to get a component to vga transcoder that is also HDCP compatible. Currently HD Fury has the best bang for the buck in that area.

Not all the time.
I have a gateway FPD1975W and use a HDMI to DVI cable and get full 1080P from my ps3. My monitor is HDCP capable and has no other special inputs.

Don't listen to them. HDMI encapsulates DVI signaling while adding data/audio and the only concern between their compatibility is HDCP. I don't know of a single 2007 DVI LCD without HDCP, so you should be safe (just look up the specs online to confirm HDCP). The PS3 DOES require HDCP for HDMI/DVI regardless of the content (EVERYTHING including the menu; not just Blu-Ray). YCrCb and RGB are only relevant to analog connections or the color space they use before outputting with HDMI. I've connected my PS3 to three 2007 LCD monitors and the only issue I have is that they always stretch to 16:10 and don't allow locking the correct aspect when dealing with a 16:9 HD signal. That's a barely distorted aspect, but I'm OCD about it.

monitors, so I'm not about to buy another

Much respect to you for admitting that.
and what the hell are you doing with 8 monitors?
