So I have been thinking of copying over my Xvid HD files to my PS3 to avoid stuttering over my wifi. Now I have been just copying a few over to my 64gb flash drive and noticed I could copy them to my HDD if I wanted to from the XMB. Only problem is it does them only one at a time and not whole folders. So I got the idea of using Blackb0x to FTP the video's over. I was just curious if someone knew where the files went before I dig out my crossover cable as doing it over wifi at 1mbps just sucks and I have to move my PS3 so I was hoping someone knew where I could just queue up all these darn things at once as I go to bed and be done with it. Thanks for any help, also is there a file manager that supports copying multiple files at once? I mean I know comgenie and multiman could do a folder at once but I am sure the PS3 wont see the files in sub folders this way.

Don't want them there and I have copied a video over to the XMB from a flash drive just got to wait till the wife goes to bed to see where it is at now and if it is still in a normal xvid container when copied from the XMB but one at a time sucks royally.

    EDIT

Nope if I put a folder of them on my 64gb flash drive I can copy all the files at once. I have the complete Saw collection transferring as we speak.

I don't know if you can ftp videos directly, since they get copied into lettered folders in dev_hdd0/video. I've tried adding my own folders there but they don't show up in the xmb, probably because the meta file needs to have their location added, something that's probably automated with the xmb copy function.

Ps3 media server will let you copy multiple videos at once, it will also transcode anything that's not ps3 native as it copies, but I've had mixed results with that even on videos that transcode while watching just fine.

You also shouldn't ever need a crossover cable with the ps3 because it has gigabit ethernet. While older 10/100 interfaces aren't auto-sensing, all gigabit interfaces are auto-sensing by design. As long as atleast one of the two interfaces being connected is auto-sensing, a standard cable will work fine.

i ve read in this forum that u can ftp video files in a 'lettered' folder that already exists... if you rename them to the name of the video that already exists in there, it will copy over them and u would be able to play it from xmb (so u can play files>4gb)also ps3 media server can help...

Bah I did three dumps of my 64gb flash drive and got them all on there. Did not take to long and would have been faster if I would I have used my USB HDD and transferred them from there to the PS3. Oh well all of them show up on my XMB now. My actual Blu-ray player supports MKV and I now encode to that but I have a few random XviDHD rips that only work on the PS3 I made with FairUse so I can keep them there in empty space as my 640gb is no where near full as I have over 500gb on there.

Now I will stream my MKV's and just boot the PS3 to view them when I feel like it which is probably never. Honestly though the MKV's look so much better but I had no way to tell. Until I got that Blu-Ray player and my last XviDHD I encoded was Inception 720p at around 3.5gb which looked ok but nothing like my Blu-ray. So I went to encode Inception into to a MKV container. Now I did this one at 1080p though as the Blu-ray doesn't suffer from FAT32 only symptoms as it works just swell with NTFS. Much bigger but that is expected jumping from 720p to 1080p but it blew my mind how accurate you could reproduce a disc, so much so I will never go back to XviDHD.

So yeah, WTF am I talking so much for to many cups of coffee, I am off to play some Red Dead Undead DLC
