    Hi

I have a PS3 80GB Fat CECHL board. I bought it, just the board as is. Im very puzzeled as to where and how to fit my BD. My BD has a larger flat ribbon that goes from DB to main board but this board uses a smalled ribbon from mainboard to......to a BD or something? Im not a PS3 Guru. Im used to the 40GB Pal.

See the link at what Im so puzzeled at:

Do I need a specific BD?

Yup, you will need a different logic board for that machine. However, unless you are 100% sure that is on old FW why did you buy just a motherboard and no logic board??

The logic boards are married to the motherboard, so your old logic board would not work with this motherboard, even if it had the correct connections. You need to remarry the board which can only be done on old FW.

Yes, you can not post links, what is it you are trying to link to? More importantly, what software version is your PS3 running on?

Ok. I needed a BD connected to update. I got a black screen that says to update from 2. something. I tried to update to 3.70, from usb, but it stucked on "checking, please wait".

I bought 5 reballed PS3 motherboard, to resell, but needed to test them out first.

motherboards without matching logic boards are just expensive paperweights if they are on FW 3.56 or higher. Sounds like you got ripped off bud.

However before you go and update, why not turn it on and see what FW the board is CURRENTLY running. If you update to 3.70 you are totally screwed. IF any of the boards are running 3.55 or less then you can sell them on stating that the new owner can remarry them, then it's their problem and you have not lied/ripped anyone off.
