What (if any) is/was Deank's relationship with Team Cobra?

I'm very familiar with the PS3 scene and I've spent a great deal of time over the last 2-3 years following the major PS3 modding websites (i.e. psx scene, ps3 hax, ps3 crunch, tortuga cove, ps3 jailbreak community, dashhacks, ps3 news, etc.) so I'm aware of the drama between Hax and Crunch.

That being said, I've noticed that the forums at Hax are full of hate towards deank. The main allegation for this hate is that dean is in bed with or getting kick-backs from Cobra for the mmCM version of multimMAN.

Now for my question: Is this true? Did deank "sell out" to Cobra? Does anyone know if there is any truth to these allegations, other than the Hax team's comments? Let me know if you do.

Just for reference, I'll tell you all where I stand. I have nothing against deank and I'm not even sure I would even if he did "sell out" to Cobra. I basically just want to know if there is any truth to what the Hax guys say about dean.

The truth is nobody knows for sure what deank's finances are and to be honest I really don't care if he is or isn't getting paid in some way. He's put a lot of work into it and gives us FREE updates.

The hate you see is coming from one person Gregory Rasputin and it's being repeated by people that either don't know any better or can't think for themselves. That nonsense has no place here so please don't bring it here. This is now and always has been a drama free site

Understood. I agree with you. Don't get me wrong because I'm not trying to create drama. Rasuptin and his pals at hax just throw out stuff about dean like they know it for a fact. I've never bothered asking them to back it up because from what I can see, I'll just get a bunch of insults hurled my way about being a mm fanboy and things involving dean's bodyparts etc.....lol.

I ask here because I see this as a neutral site that just posts news, tuts, etc.,without all the drama, but you also seem to have the direct track with a handful of devs. I figured if anyone could give me a straight answer it would be you guys.

Pure speculation on my part but this is how I see it, Dean has always strived to make multiMAN the most compatible with all CFWs (examining CFWs and adding said compatibility) so 'probably' he contacted the devs over @ Cobra to add the compatibility from their CFW/Dongle, case closed! He never did lose any compatibility with any other CFW/dongle (yes some were/are still on 3.41 OFW)

You ever noticed that deank never promotes Cobra to the point that he urges us to get it? He recently stated he liked or prefers using Rebug. To me that says it all.

I also think that deank is entitled do what he pleases with his project. Deank has done more for us than anyone I know.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to drama queens at that site--they cause drama in order to get traffic--think of them like the tabloid for the scene (like Perez Hilton). And if you ever want to see Rasputin sweat, ask him if he has ever developed anything for the PS3? Be cautious though, that will put you on his hate list and he may just ban you for that--he might even go as far as to find out everything about you (facebook) and try to find anything he can use to attack you with. And if he tells you he has done tons for the scene, that will be a shameful lie, because he has done "zilch". 99% of the time, he doesn't know what he is doing or talking about. His only 0.01% ability is that he can find the ban button.

But I don't hate him, because he always makes me laugh. To me, he is the Jester of the scene. So I say, let him keep doing what he does. It really doesn't bother me. He is small potatoes.

It's none of my business, but I'm guessing Deank got little to nothing for the cobra version of multiman. If they gave him anything, then they would probably promote the fact that it exists a lot more. Also, they were perfectly capable of building a back up manager themselves. Why contract some one to build something when you already have a similar piece of software. Either way I don't care. Hell, I hope the man made out like a bandit, even though I doubt it.

i don't find him funny or entertaining, i think he's a embarrassment to the scene and needs to grow up, he thinks he is all that just because he is a moderator on that POS site, he is a nobody and a looser, can't stand the guy.
