The title pretty much says it

It was a launch 60gb model and in my opinion the best model too lol. Have you guys gotten the stupid YLOD lately? And where do you guys recommend to get it fixed?

P.S. Sony is NOT an option (warranty sticker removed)

Lots of places offer reflows, for $40-$60
Reballing is a more expensive option $80-$120
Or you could do it yourself, for about $20
Thermal paste, and some flux. You could use a heat gun, or even throw it in the oven. Really easy stuff

I'm thinking of more of a permanent fix like reballing. I found a company called RSOL PC or ps3repairshop.com but they are located in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. And to ship with UPS to them will take days and back. I'm trying hard to find a closer business around the west coast. Sadly though I couldn't.

Reflowing does seem nice, but without proper equipment like an IR Rework station, it won't last long. Shit man.. lol

A friend and I used this guy in CA for reballing our 60GB units. charged $100 and gave us a 1 year warranty. dunno if he still provides the service though, since his ebay add hasnt been updated.

Reflowing is indeed cheap, but "you get what you pay for." I reflowed my unit about 5 times before I caved in and send it in for a reball, hasnt given me problems since.

Definately get the reball but I havent had ylod with my cecha01's because I changed the the thermal paste to that diamond stuff (or use artic silver 5) and got the aps 231 in both which is somthing I recomend to everyone. An ounce of prevention as they say and hopefully it won't need another reball in 3-5 years.

Yea I saw the new ad too.
PLAYSTATION 3 REBALLING REPAIR SERVICE, 1 YEAR WARRANTY | eBay

I see it says khaled710 in the picture like the original ad. I'm going to see if I can contact him about his service.

@pip313 You see, I wish somebody would have told me that when I bought it...

definitely get reball.... I first got it reflowed and then reflowed and again, till i had enough. In Canada here, a guy did it for me for 55$, so that was great!! and i haven't had a problem since, knock on wood..... i think anything under $100 is good.
