WD 2TB HDD - Does it work with PS3

Hi guys, sorry fot the offtopic, but what you are talking about are the internal solutions, right? And are there any limits for external hard drives? Anyone tested ps3 with 1TB or more external hard drive? I'd like to buy (or rather get) Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 3TB HDD today or tomorrow. If noone tested it with 3TB, than maybe 2TB, 1.5TB or 1TB, because I can also get 'smaller' ones.

i think he is lying, becuase i tried 2 different 2tb drives (driffernet brands) for internal an neither of them worked. the fool is proberly talking about external. i pmed him yesterday for a screenshot and no reponse. so i call bs

i bet you are just using it as an external device.. not internally on the PS3..

From what I know PS3 supports 2TB as internal + external total storage.
I didn't test...

what are you using to power the 2tb internal with? it isn't going to work with the power supplied by the ps3's SATA power cable by default. Would probably work with an external power source as long as it's designed for larger drives etc.

you could do an internal job by going underneath where the AC adapter is on the PCB and finding grounds/12v/5v and soldering a 4-pin molex - SATA Power Cable and power it from there if it does function with external power.

i've gotten a few 360's working with 2TB drives with internal power solutions fairly easily, willing to bet the ps3 just needs similar standard common-sense/easy fixes for it to work -- i'll give it a shot in the next few days and post results if i get the time.

Alright i see what's the problem i got that cable and power for an internal
to be put as an external... only if i had a 2TB i'd test it lol.

i have already tested it, with external power it doesnt work. as soon as the ps2 formated the drive you get a black screen. and no matter how many times you reset the video config its still a black screen. and then i put in a wd 1tb black formatted it and boom workss fine. i havent seen any proof that a 2tb drive works, and that neptune guy ran off since he was lying

Do some research on your own and stop calling people liars just because they dont supply a picture when you want it.
