Well the latest boxes have a nice "Now with 3D Support" artwork printed on them, or added as a nice sticker on it under the clear wrapper.

Those sadly have v3.50 already burned into their heart running thru their veins.

Ones before that should be safe, like the Madden11 bundle deal.

But be careful of Best Buy, they try to push you into taking their "GeekSquad" update package to make sure it is running v3.50, before you exit the store with your prized package.

The only SUREFIRE way to get a 3.41 or lower is to buy a used one, since you'll be allowed to look at the firmware before buying (since it's already opened). With proper retail boxes they wouldn't let you do that I would guess :/

Of course if they ever inquired why you want to look at the firmware (not that you can get in trouble) then you can just reply you want to run Linux on it =P

    +1

My 160gb slim came with 3.40 two weeks ago, and it has the 3D logo. The 3D logo means nothing at this point in regards to firmware version.

    theres no way to tell...

    my 320 move bundle is a 3.40

I dont see any pettern on the serial or upc

mine has the 3D on the box down with all the other compatible formats

I hate wal-mart but they have a 90 day return policy...my plan was if the 320 was not 3.41 or lower I would go back and get a 250 and if that was then the 160 etc...last case scenario was buying an used one the guys at game st@p werent to hip on me asking for a 3.41 or lower...maybe they would of plugged one in for a sale.
