i read a thread on this site, under the PS2 section. it was about a warranty seal and somebody was able to hook the guy up with a replacement one. i was wondering if anybody could help me out on this for the ps3. i can pay via PayPal for one, my 2yr old nephew tore mine off my 60gb ps3. i know a lot of people that have had the ylod and i would like to have a warranty seal intact in case i have to get mine fixed through sony for this issue. any help is appreciated! thanks.

I highly doubt it will even matter, as the 60GB PS3 warranty should all expired years ago. Either way, you will have to pay the repair cost by Sony. I have two CECHA01 PS3 which both are 60GB but one upgraded to 750GB and they both have been running strong and have not experience any YLOD. As long as you run them in an air conditioned environment, it should be okay, although I have extra fans attached to my PS3, but run them in an air conditioned environment, also it is not in an enclosed cabinet, TV stands or whatever you would call it.

mine is out in the open, and my room is set to 55 on the thermostat. its not that i am worried about it getting the ylod, just in case it happens. i know a guy who got it and was able to send it in to sony for $129 to get fixed, but he was asked if the seal had been tampered with. this is why i want to replace it...

Here is something that might be relevant to read. Yeah, I really do not think the warranty sticker is not needed, because your console is out of warranty, but as you mentioned, they did ask for it, and it could be possible that they do require it, but then again it's also possible that they just asked him to give him either a higher or lower cost in repair. What you could do is either email or call them up and ask them what happens if the warranty sticker was accidentally removed or make something up perhaps with a little bit of truth (truth stretching), like your nephew accidentally tore off the warranty sticker, etc. You would have to use your imagination here. If you decide to find out from Sony, then please post here on what they say.
