USB port problem
Hello I did something stupid which I do occasionally, I was playing a very glitchy game (Operation Flashpoint) and got upset. I threw my ps3 controller against the wall (it wasnt plugged in).
Well luckily all the buttons work on the controller still, but for some reason my left USB port (slim ps3) won't work. It wont charge the controller, it wont accept my powered external hard drive anymore. Furthermore, the right USB drive works fine and the abused controller charges in this port.
I dont know how my wireless controller getting hurt affected my port when it wasnt even plugged in to it, mainly I want to know what the problem is and if I can fix it without sending it out somewhere.
I think I figured out a temporary solution. I was aware you could charge the PS3 controller via PC usb, but was not aware you could charge and play ps3 at the same time. But you can.
It was kind of tricky to replicate being I figured it out by accident.
PC on, PS3 off
plug controller into PC
unplug controller from pc (all lights will blink on controller)
ps3 should turn itself on
plug controller back into PC before lights stop flashing
after ps3 boots to XMB, controller should work for ps3
and one light should be flashing on controller for charging from PC
