update loop tried every thing
update loop tried every thing –
hi all i have a cechg03 ps3 and it stopped reading disks, i opened the drive up to find the magnet had come off so i replaced it and it started to work again reading disks fine then when i went to update it to 3.66 from 3,61 it gets to 88% then gives me the error i have tried it a thousand times but every time fails at 88%
i have had the br drive out again and turned the ps3 on and their is a blindind blue laser so im assuming the laser fine.
i have tried everything i have seen on the internet to try and get out off loop like taking hdd out halfway through and restarting ps3 but when i do that the ps3 wont display anything.
i have tried booting to recovery menu but it wont start just goes strainght to loop
i have removed the ps3's battery and ran the update again but still crashes at 88%
i have done a reflow on board but still fails at 88%
i have noticed though that when i insert a disk the blue light dosnt come on to indicate that their is a disk in the drive but it does spin and the laser does light up really bright it also ejects ok too.
please can some one help me out of the loop im out of ideas. thanks rich
Have you tried with a different hard drive in? Or reformatting yours? I had a update loop problem getting stuck at like 91% on a new used slim 2 days after I bought. It happened after I was playing MW2 online and kicked my PS3 from vertical and it slammed down C: When it hit the ground I'm guessing the hard drive get seriously scratched so I just swaged out the orginal 120 for a 80 and boom. No more update loop. But there are many causes for update loops though. I figured yous is due becasue of the BR drive
yes mate i have tried changing the harddrive but it just keeps turning off without even displaying any picture.
any other ideas?
What? Like you change the hard drive, turn it on, turns on but just shuts off?

Shouldn't be doing that. Well try having the original in and go into recovery mode and click rebuild data base. It won't erase anything. Then after try doing whatever
i have tried getting into recovery menu but it just goes straight back to loop
are u sure the logic board on the bluray drive is still good
