two ps3's, what should i do?

i bought a 'broken' ps3 for $15 last year that needed a new power/eject board ($14) in order to play around with it. So i threw kmeaw 3.55 on there played a little MGS bla bla bla and now im kinda bored with the inability to play newer games (namely BF3). I DO however use my PS3 constantly for playing movies off my external HDD, which is something i can't give up. My sister had a PS3 (FW 3.21) which has not been used in forever because it wont read discs. So i diagnosed the issue as being a broken DVD drive and in turn an $9x dollar repair which she is contemplating (i think its dumb). I also have an xbox360 that i can flash and **** around with. It is an older hitachi drive so i dont think i can get it flashed to the latest, XBL permitting, firmware.

So wtf should i do.

i need the ability to play my movies, but would definitely like to get involved with BF3.
i could buy my sisters ps3, mod it, and run two ps3's one stock one cfw.


sorta might want to get an xbox360 (could buy the latest xbox and flash it giving me XBL) since i have some friends that jam on XBL

run 2 ps3's and BF3 works on KMEAW anyway

You can play BF3 on 3.55, just not online.

Im really only looking for the online play.

should i buy her ps3 then? whats a fair price, since she will have to pay almost 100 to fix her old one, she could put this other money towards a new or solid used one
