TUTORIAL : How To Change Your PS3 HDD Without Losing Any Data (With Rebug CFW) –

I know, almost everybody know how to change their hdd.
But most of them does'nt know how to change "without losing any data"...
Here is the simple & quick tutorial.
What you need :
1. HDD with maximum 9mm. thickness - (640gb's and some 750gb/1TB's are fine)
2. Sata to USB Enclosure for your new hdd.
3. PS3 With 3.41 or 3.55 OFW/CFW installed. (Slim or Fat)
4. Rebug CFW 3.41.3/3.55.3 (depends on your OFW/CFW)
What you must do :
1. Install RebugCFW over your old OFW/CFW.
2. Put your new HDD to Sata2Usb Enclosure and connect it to PS3's USB0 (right) port.
3. Go to "Debug Settings" select "HDD Change Utility" and click "OK"
4. After 15-30 minutes copying will done and you can able to change your HDD.
5. Close your PS3 and change the Hard Drive.
Conguratulations you're all done.

Why the 9mm thickness? I've got a 12mm 1 TB drive in my Slim. I just had to leave out the mounting bracket. Also does it copy everything from the drive or just your /game and /home folder?
Fiery the angels fell. Deep thunder rolled around their shoulders... burning with the fires of Orc.

9mm is for neatness, so it can fit into the PS3 WITH the drive bay, as it is opposed to be

@Bahumatlord
Cause I'm bit of obsessive about that
Just like my X360, I can fit my converted WD drive on it with foam or something like that!
But using enclosure is the easiest and cleanest way to do it.
Also not everyone can fit 12mm HDD like you do...
It needs bit of experience..
-And YEAP it copies all of your data/games/saves/trophies/profiles etc.
Everything on your old hdd transfered to new one...
I have done it almost 100 times (On Ps3 repair service...)
@headsh0t95
Yeap mate... Good point...

im on 4.21 rebug. Will this work so that i dont have to mess with the rebug 4.21 cfw and going back to 3.55 ofw?

I didn't updated mine to any new CFW...
Cause my E3 flashers cable ripped and I dont want to mess with any new thing..
Especially REBUG 3.55.3 with 4.31 spoofer is so flawless right now... (psn+almost all new games...)
Sı "I don't know" but, if there is a "HDD Exchange Utility" on "Debug Settings" you can go with it...
Cause I belive if there any bug on Rebug, they don't release it...
If you do it, can you confirm for us?

I can't find this option in any of Rebug's 4.21 menus or toolbox, I think it's only for 3.55. Looks like you need to be on 3.55 if you're changing the HDD

@synce
So, there is no "Debug HDD Exchange Utility" on Rebug 4.21...
Did you look up for "Debug Menu 1 and 2"
That's previously on Rebug Selector Cex/Dex 1.6...
Now it must be on Toolbox...
@ppr2012
This tutorial is not for this.
But you can use 2TB+ external and 1TB+ for internal.
For internal you must buy hdd with 9mm. thicker or you can fit 12mm. (without drive bay) just like Bahumatlord did.
For better compability you must have left "original game disc in the drive" and use latest multiMan...
