I'd say update. your not going to see a backup enabled 3.55+ Cfw anytime soon if ever. or buy a second Ps3, which really is a smart move. new ps3's are cheap now days
yes it's cheaper and easyer to find/buy a new slim PS3. My friend got one for free from his internet provider for signing another year with them. Getting a genuine 355 is rather hard in good condition, the same friend tryed buying one but the laser was almost gone lateron it broke down totally, worked for a week or so without the laser. It was either fixed or something and he payed more then what a new one would cost. If your machine works sell it and buy a new one for the money you get from it, you should get more then what a new one is sold for. Its a sellers market when we talk about 3.55 consoles, meaning there are more buyers then there are working machines out there. every day more and more people upgrade and downgrading if even possible isn't for nobbs. when downgrading you need special firmware to downgrade into, an ordinary kmeaw will not work and you need special firmware for True Blue or Cobra also, when downgrading you need a special cobra firmware and I am not even sure a Special True Blue firmware even exist, since their ordinary firmware will not work when downgrading. And you can only downgrade old consoles since new consoles will get bricked if you go below the firmware it came with. so even having a downgrading kit I wouldn't dare to upgrade since the PS3 will never be the same. in other words there isn't any turning back when you upgrade. If you really need to get online the best solution is to sell your machine and buy a already upgraded one/new one for everybody, if you sell it smart you should get more money then what a new machine costs or atleast get a new machine with a brand new laser for the same money. It did cost my friend about 50 Euro to switch his brand new PS3 for a working 3.55 one with questionable laser, and he was satisfied. He believed he was lucky it was only 50 Euro.
What they said the PS3 scene is dead if you wanna play newer games buy a tb dongle OR update the choice is yours
FYI read How the ECDSA algorithm works
Kakaroto clearly states its impossible to have a cfw over 3.56 because sony fixed their mistake
Everytime I close my eyes, see see Kmeaw 4.00.
Lots of people think the scene is dead. I wouldn't count on it. To play new games, we don't need a new custom firmware. We simple need to be able to decrypt them and and sign them for 3.55. It would seem that the True Blue team can do this for some games. I'ver heard people say that they are simply adding DRM to debug eboots. But how is it that only True Blue has access to these debug eboots?
The ability to decrypt newer games is sitting right there in millions of living rooms. Every PS3 that is on current firmware can do this. It's just a matter of figuring out what it's doing.
And no, the want to play newer games on 3.55 does not equate to piracy. In most cases, yes. Not all.
