test for bad laser vs unmarried nand w/o a demo/game on hdd & w/o psn access?
Been troubleshooting bluray not reading discs and its down to two things - I either have a multitude of bad lasers or the nand is unmarried according to the following and much toil:

Is there anyway to get a demo game of some sort to the hdd via usb/thumb drive? (There is nothing installed at all on it anymore since that was one of the first things that was wiped in hopes of bringing the brd back with a reformat or rebuild of database, and going on the psn is a forced update to 3.61 leaving me dead in the water if it means I need to remarry the nand after all. As it must be rolled back to an earlier firmware to accomplish this, and the 3.6x will negate that possibility, it would be self-defeating at that point.) At this point though it looks like the only way I can be sure if it is nand mismatch or bad laser is to be able to test by running something from the hdd but I can't get anything on the hdd to test with unless there is some other option I have overlooked.
I seem to be caught in a trap here... I need to be pretty sure its the laser before I send back yet another for exchange. Any ideas how I can do this without updating fw to get psn access?
