Ok I got A PS3 slim that was selling for faulty because the seller couldnt get no picture from HMDI. I bought it and used a AV cable and It all turns on fine but the persons put a 80GB hardrive inside the PS3 slim and took the orignal hardrive out. 120GB
I get this menu appearing:

I guess this error above is occured because the orignal hardrive has been taken out?
I've downloaded the ''pup update file'' Tryed to update the PS3 but I get a error code: The data is corrupted (8002F2BF)

Is it allready on 3.56? If not, someone may have downgraded from 3.55, and left you stuck. Here is what you can do (what I did). Find and download rebug 3.41.2. Find and download the 3.55 downgrade tools (pup and 2 lv2self files). Find and download the 3.50 downgrade lv2diag.self files (two of them)
1: Use the 3.55 downgrade Lv2diag.self and PUP to go back to 3.41
2: Change the Lv2diag.self to the original(3.50) and put Rebug 3.41.2 on the USB.
3. Install in Service Mode
Now, you can install OFW 3.55 from the XMB, and then install Kmeaw 3.55 from the XMB over that!
NOTE I am assuming that you know how to update a PS3 (FAT32 usb drive that looks like "usb:/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.pup") and downgrade (FAT32 usb drive with only two files on it for downgradiing "usb:/PS3UPDAT.pup & Lv2diag.self", and one file on it for exiting sevice more "usb:/Lv2diag.self"
Good luck!

Why are you using a sticker on the TV that says "3.56"? Why cover the original firmware number?

Maybe he is using a pic from somewhere else with a different FW Version. So he inserted his Ver in.

Hi thanks tthousand for the detail reply back but it asks me to update 3.56 or a later firmware. I guess this ps3 has a 3.56 firmware otherwise it wouldn't ask me to update from 3.56 and later. I guess thats right isn't it? I dunno what to do now.
Say you updated your ps3 to 3.56 then your harddrive broke one day and you bought a new HDD then your get this problem I'm having. Your be up shit streak!! Why is there no fix for this issue problem? I used to know a lot about the PS2 but I've only just started to get into PS3 software.

Your best bet at the moment is to ring S**Y and complain. They have swept this issue under the rug. It was their quick fix at putting a stop to CFW and they stuffed up alot of OFW running consoles in the process. I cant remember when 3.56 came out but I'm sure theres no fix from their end for this(I could be wrong). Get a refurbished one out of those arsewipes(at no cost to you). Your a customer and they have stopped you from using your games and now you cant purchase any more games to play because of their shoddy software. There's a youtube video showing someone running an upgraded hard drive with an error screen, then they install the original hard drive back in and the PS3 loads up just fine. Thats proof enough that it is their own stuff up.
You just have to put in enough time on the phone to kick up a stink, ie. speak to people higher up in the chain rather than the 1st customer rep that answers the call. I'm sure with all the bad publicity they are getting at the moment they will need to please as much customers as they can.

Hi thanks for message. I did think of that but I bought the ps3 slim 2nd hand as faulty also the orignal hardrive is missing. What do you think I should say if they ask me what size the orignal hardrive is and to put the orignal hardrive back in the ps3 etc.... Also it might be registered I dunno. I doubt it though.
