I have searched and search over the forum and havent had a concrete answer to my question. I have an original 60gb fat ps3 from launch i am running on 3.55 kmeaw cfw and its working fine. I have legit backups to my external and some of them wont boot due to the fat32 limitation so my 60gb isnt enough to load these games and i just bought a 500gb western digital hd from newegg for 53 bucks, not bad free 2-day shipping as well. Anyways im getting that tuesday and I want to make sure I get everything correct before i do the upgrade.

I know i can using the ps3 backup utility my data to an external harddrive, now my question that i havent found on this forum is this, me and a couple of my friends would buy a psn game on our account and share our accounts and we can each download it, since u can share a psn game download up to 5 ps3 consoles. I havent been on the psn since i did my cfw, and i have read some people after putting a new harddrive in that they couldnt even play their psn games they bought under their own psn account unless they signed back into psn and activated it again. is this true? or is there another process?

my only concern is i have maybe 5 or 6 games me and my other 2 friends shared that i would want to have but i dont want to sign on to psn and go under their account to redownload it to my ps3.

Another question i have is, that the ps3 backup utility doesnt backup trophy information, I have gotten several trophies since using the cfw and havent synced my account on psn, so will putting this new harddrive not apply the trophies i got even though the backup utility might backup that information?

i already manually backup my saves and actually some games from the games folder to an external drive, im hoping i can just use multiman and xfer those files to the new harddrive if they dont get copied from the ps3's backup utility.

so has anyone swapped to a new harddrive with 3.55 cfw kmeaw and on the new hd loaded the data from the previous hd backup and everything was normal just like before on the original hd prior to upgrading?

UPDATE!! Solved my question. I upgraded to a 500gb hd from the original 60gb harddrive, everything xfer including all the homebrew apps. I did not update my firmware so kmeaw's firmware was fine. I did a backup of the 60gb hd using sonys backup utility program. swapped harddrives formatted and loaded my backup restore. everything works including my psn ps1 games i dled from my friends account. the only thing that did not xfer was trophies, no biggy i still have my original drive so i can swap and then sync or use that program that dev made to edit trophy data and just give myself back the trophies lol.

From what I've read (not experienced) after upgrading the HDD you will have to connect to PSN in order to re-active your games.
Since you are on 3.55 you can do that, so unless Sony releases 3.60 in the next 2 days, you won't have any problems.

If you are afraid to connect to PSN with a CFW (I don't think you need to), you can always go into service mode, flash your PS3 with original 3.55, replace the HDD, reactive your PSN games, and then re-upgrade to CFW again.
