Swaping Blu-Ray drives
Swaping Blu-Ray drives –

Can I swap out my old fat PS3 bluray drive that's on fw3.60 to my (just bought it) new fat PS3 fw3.01. See the fw3.01 works great but its drive is getting Error 80010514, and the fw3.60 power fired the motherboard but the drive is perfectly fine. So will i have any conflicts with just swapping two the bluray drives?

Yip conflicts abound. You will need to swap logic boards from the 2 bluray drives. The small circuit board that the cables connect to

it would probably depend on what style motherboard the v3.60 ps3 is and what style the v3.01 is. fatty ps3s came in 2 flavors, single laser and dual laser. usually, for usa ps3s, single lasers are cecha/b/e/g (the 20gb/60gb/80gb - 4usb port, and the first gen 40gb, cechg). any other fatty is a dual laser (cechh and above).

As far as I know. NO other Blu Ray drive will work in any other PSŁ other than the one it came from. WITHOUT swaping Logic Boards
