08-15-2011,03:35 AM
I'm going to swap hard drive for a 640 gigas.
i need to do this :
install OFW from recovery mode then swap hard drives and it will ask for 3.55 or higher and install again the OFW then you can re-upgrade to CFW
what about multiman , do i need to uninstall it ? if i have to how do i do it ?
thanks

No, since your swapping the harddrive it doesnt matter because thats were it's installed, you will have to re-install it though.

thanks but i was thinking more about the moment when i re-install the OFW before i swap the hard drive.
multiman and black box will be there with the OFW , will that cause any problem or it doesn't matter cuz i will swap the hard drive ?

Hi, from what I have read most people recommend going to OFW3.55 first. Then upgrade HDD. The PS3 will ask you to upgrade again, use OFW3.55 again, then go to CFW3.55. I assume you are replacing the internal HDD. You will need to re-install your hombrew.

you are right but my questions is before swapping the hard drive, i have to go to OFW 3.55 , at that moment i will still have the homebrew on my ps3. i understand all the part when swapping and after, but not before, my question is if there is a problem or anything when i go back to OFW before swapping the hard drive.
thanks

No problem going back to OFW before swapping the HDD. I have had all my back ups and homebrew on my PS3 and went OFW and back to CFW with no problems.

No there definately wont be a problem going back to OFW, the homebrew will still be there(on the harddrive that you are about to remove) but the ps3 will just say it's corrupt data.
