    Hi,

Hope some one can shed some light on this.

Bought a faulty ps3, so im not in shock!!

Switch power on, standard red standby light

touch on/off switch and it light turns green, fan starts briefly (only about a second) fan of then green light alternates between green and yellow repeatly.

Not usual ylod, no 3 beeps and no flashing red light.

cant get into safe mode at all, can do fan test.

    Any thoughts much appreciated.

    Hi xeminem,

Can you elaborate a bit more, a wanky brick? !!!

I reflowed it, and now when i switch the power switch on the back, it takes a second or two for the red standby light, that starts to flash constantly. This is a new prob.

When i touch the on button, it beeps once as per usual, then goes back to the yellow and green flashing light. Thinking about giving up, and tips appreciated.

Ah, forgot to mention, as i got no caddy, prior to reflow, i had no hard drive inserted, i have since got the hdd in without caddy, perhaps not seated correct.

i don't think it is a wanky brick at all because . which does not casue a ylod . you might have to get your system reballed with new solder under the gpu

Hi Ps3repairman, and all who have replied.

Im giving up on this one, i have repaired several ylods in the past, and uptil this one, had almost 100% success rate.

I only paid £18 on ebay, and collected locally. To be honest it was a dog inside, noticed the heatsink clamps were not correct ones, not all fats have the same clamps, there are slight differences. The battery kept popping out, little retain clip broke.

So for £18, i got a 40gb hdd, working and tested , spare working psu (aps-231) , one of the better ones i hear. Possiblly a perfect blu-ray, though not been able to test yet, wifi board , but i never heard of these breaking down.

This problem of green/yellow flashing light is completely new to me, and cant find anything similar on the net, so just gonna use as spares, and am planning to work on a mod for an external power supply to reduce heat inside the ps3, so connectors on the main board might come in handy.

    regards
