If my laptop had an HDMI input I would just use that instead.

Does homebrew of (thread name) exist?

I don't want to stream just Windows Media stuff by the way.

Can't be done. You might be able to hack together some type of VNC connection, but it'd be more pain then it's worth.

Sorry. Not sure if you want to use your Laptop's screen as PS3 output device or the other way around...

If you want to see your PS3's output, it depends on the software running on PS3 (it might be encrypted).
If you want to see your Laptop's stuff on the PS3, just try remote desktop (via Linux).

Why would you want to hook up video out from your laptop to your PS3? That doesn't even make sense since the PS3 is a console with no display. Why would you not hook the laptop up directly to the TV? Because that obviously works just fine.

He probably wants to play ps3 in bed with the laptop on his lap in comfort lol.

You could probably do this with some sort of expresscard based HD capture card, if you could view it without any lag.

Just buy this Walmart.com: PS3 Slim HD Monitor: Accessories

Looks pretty cool, I might actually get one myself. You could play PS3 in the bathroom...

    No, you can't.

You can stream movies from your laptop to your PS3, but that's it. You can't stream the entire windows desktop.

Why would you want to do that anyways? Kinda defeats the point of a laptop, but if you really have to do it, go get like... a 10ft HDMI cable or something.

    According to this:

Its possible to stream your desktop to a mpg file, and playing the file over network, but you will suffer a lot of lag.
