Sources for power?

Does anyone know of any guides for safe sources of power for extra fans?

I want to add a couple of extra fans to keep my YLOD repaired machines going longer.

The usb ports can handle 500ma each

I've tried the "repair" once on a YLOD 40GB and it died again

You could try wiring them to an external power supply. The included power supplies are usually designed to give just enough power to run the system stably.
