Sony needs to start banning consoles

Im not an asshole that wants people to get banned from PSN for installing hacked firmware (Pirate or not). We need it to start if its going to happen at all so solutions will be made to get around it. I personally think the hammer will come down shortly after Killzone 3 comes out. Everyone will be wanting to play multiplayer.

Shh, don't wish for this yet. It will come in it's own time. Hell, I think we beat the record for the last time we were able to get on PSN legitimately (1wk 2dys when we were spoofing as dev consoles with 3.50 installed). There will be ways around it, but I think the devs that have done what they've done thus far, are on the other side of the fence of getting people back on PSN if we lose it.

In theory we can do what we want on the console - including unbanning ourselves/writing a new console ID to the system. If we need a genuine ID or if sony didn't really note what they did and didn't release is what to figure out.

Bannings will NOT stop cheaters tho, if thats anyones hope. The system is compromised and always will be. Xbox has the same problems but a LOT fewer people have jtags, and even fewer are valid KV's people want to blow away online in 2 days.

JTAGs are insta-banned now, but I agree the PS3's security holes are a crater compared to the 360's cracks. Stat hacking is one thing, but in games like FIFA and CoD which are being completely raped by cheaters abusing the new hacks could really benefit from bans and shouldn't be overlooked. Yes, MW2 was hacked a few weeks after launch through the gave saves, but that can't be compared to grenades with a blast radius of the whole freakin' map, or shotguns which don't kill people but sent them floating upwards. It's a whole new level of cheating, and I hope Sony does whatever it can.

But I wish sony would ban the onine gaming side (given that we presume they are going to ban) but not ban access to the store.

I download shed loads of DLC for games, and would miss that side of it, the onlinegaming I couldnt care less about.

Totally agree; ban the cheaters who abuse the hacks and ruin the whole online experience for everyone else. Don't ban for using PSN store. I'm buying DLC like crazy now that I have PSN store back with 3.55 CFW. ****ing cheaters ruin all the fun.

Only people they need to ban is cheaters other then that let everyone else play.
