solid blue light ps3 doesnt recognize disc

ok so heres my problem i bought a ps3 of this kid from craigslist. got it home it works and everything but when i put in any disc regardless of the type it reads the disk and then the led just stays solid blue but there is no disc icon on the game scroll down or the movie one if i put in a movie and i have the ps3 set to auto play so even if it was working it would automatically start up. is there a way to fix this? also ive heard the drive are matched to the mother board and im thinking maybe this dvd drive could be from a different ps3 could that have the same issue or is it something different?

could also just be a bad laser. pretty common problem.

i dont know because i put other dvd drives from the same model ps3 that i know work and it gave me the same problem

PS3 optical drives are not interchangeable. They're mated to the system they're sold with. So swapping them around won't work.

Kid from craigslist sold you a ps3 with a dead laser. Probably knowingly too.

Cant u take the laser only from your other ps3 and replace it? (not the whole drive)
