Slim wont eject disc –
02-28-2010,12:26 AM
Greetings All!
A customer just brought me a slim that wont eject discs. I've disassembled the drive and re-assembled it dozens of times and I just can't figure this one out. Does anyone have any shots of a properly setup slim blu ray drive?
There is a small post that the disc moves out of the way when it passes in to the drive that is blocking the disc from ejecting. I suspect that there may have been a part, spring or something that held that post in place until the eject motion sent the disc forward far enough. However I have nothing to compare it to so it's just speculation at this point. If anyone has any insight I would appreciate the help.
Thanks in advance

So far myself, I have only fixed one Slim that could not eject disks.
It was a simple problem, the unit had got STEPED-ON, that's right, it was on the floor, and a nice big foot landed on the top of the unit.
The problem I found was the metal cover over the slim drive unit, with it removed the unit would eject disks fine.
A little bending the metal back in place, and it work fine after that.
The second slim I fixed, was easy it had FOUR disks inside, I had no problems after removing the disk's to get the unit loading again.
The third slim I see had no video outputs, so never got around to looking at the drive, since no need.
I am currently the owner of this proud fully HACK'ed PS3 Slim:

But sadly, it is too damaged to be able to compare the drive to your problem, to see where yours could be not working correctly.
So far I have not come across any clear videos or info on the SLIM, all my experience with it is listed above, and I never made any videos.
Wish I could be of more help.

This was a problem on a drive i fixed. The post was stuck stopping the disk from being inserted. I had to dismantle the drive and manually rotate the motor cog to align the mechanism again.. I told the owner that he should look after his PS3 as dropping it onto the floor is not good for it.
