Just picked up a slim, I noticed that the bottom (more around the middle and near the power plug) gets fairly hot to the touch.....is this normal. Don`t real notice a big deal on the top & sides. I can`t compare it to my other PS3 because its a fat 60GB. I do realize these heat up but how hot is normal? and is the bottom where it gets hot on slims?

my PS3 (also 120GB slim) gets hot underneath around the middle too, as well as along the back edge on the top (where i believe the power supply is located) and also a little warmer underneath where the hdd is located (front right).. at first i was also worried as yes it does get quite hot to the touch..

i decided (mainly because i had 12 months warranty) to test it out a bit and played several very long gaming sessions of around 11-12 hours straight (on averagely warm days being about 25-30 degrees Celsius) on my days off from work.. while the PS3 did heat up substantially on these long sessions, i havent had any issues with it powering off or freezing etc as ive read about on forums and other sites..

im assuming its because PS3s do use a fairly large amount of power for its size, and while drawing a fair bit less than a fat PS3, it would still generate a lot of heat..

anyway, ive simply decided that i will take into account the temperature of the day/room at the time im playing, and power it off for half an hour or so at varying intervals depending on how the ambient temperature is.. ive owned it for several months now and clean the vents pretty regularly, and like i said i havent had any problems..
