Hey everyone,
I bet there are a few in these forums that have multiple PS3s. I currently have 2, one legitimate and one CFW. Since I received one of their banhammer emails, should I be afraid to update my legitimate PS3 to 3.56v2 when I have a CFW PS3?
In the TOS, it sounds like Sony will start monitoring everything that is connected to PS3/PSN account and how I am using my PS3s. I dont want Sony to collect any info/data on me. What do you think?
update your legit ps3 as the original 3.56 had a bug regarding hard disk upgrades.
on your hacked ps3 - imo the ebst way to prevent any data getitng to sony is to simply set it with a static ip address and set the gateway to 1.1.1.1.
This will allow you to ftp to your ps3, and see local media servers but will not allow access to the internet.
That said - if you've gotten the email you're probably SOL, so it doesnt matter.
If your on 3.55 be very affraid rootkit is just one of the new wonderfull experience, who knows maybe reprograming your children is on the menu next. Read the TOS
They can't brick your PS 3 without your concent if you are on 3.55 or below, PSN isn't enough reason to upgrade, maybe if I cured cancer by doing so I would but Sony is a Clown with a red nose and the new TOS is nothing more then a joke that should be taken seriously.
People the time for klicking trough the text is over, if you accctually agree to the TOS it's not only a ban waiting for you but a bricked PS 3.
Don't matter you never jailbroken your machine, someone could have used the code belonging to your machine, it's like a lottery but with people loosing money instead.
If your one of the unlucky ones on 3.56 already you could upgrade to the b version offline then you disconnect the Ethernet cable and isolate with alluminum where the wifi antenna is connected, best way is to open it up and isolate it from the inside or take the antenna out, you should ask a certified electrician for help. Sony can and will do what ever they want with your PS 3 when you are on 3.56 I wouldn't risking the wifi coming alive because they must have thought of people disconnecting the cable, it could be preprogramed to search for open wifi after a certain time not connected to ethernet and we all know hacking WEP is just a question of time, it could have been included. Hackers don't really know mutch else then the rootkit rest are speculations however some of the speculations are surely true since the TOS supports them and is letting Sony do things to your PS3 that other people would get 15 years of jailtime for.
So read the "New" TOS and have a laugh, I know I had, it seemed like 1940s once again however with so mutch better tools for the NAZI's. With This tools no resistence would have ever made it and the war would have been lost.
Think about this: If a person did things Sony want's you to let them do, he would get seroius time in JAIL in almost every country in the world. However SONY Takes away the responsobility by you agreeing to it. They have your concent to come to your house and smash your PS 3 to peaces if they want, they do it digitally since the man power and baseball bats for all machines would cost to mutch, but who knows maybe they do that to people living in the forest far from internet. You don't acctually need to connect with your PS 3, you can make a PSN account from a computer so you still give them alll the rights they need even without internet. So if there's a person from Sony with a baseball bat outside your home, don't be suprised, you agreed to it. Not reading the TOS doesn't have any legal standpoint, it's your obligation, they did it this long with the most intruding stuff in the end so you would get tired of reading after the second page, they try to be relitivelly harmless in the first pages, and they try to be as boring as possible. They had scientists and focus groups help them so 99% never read the whole TOS, they could write in the end that they are aloud to kill your dog and they come with a warrent and a police to colllect your dog if they want, that is the law. It's what you voted for. you got scrued and your not the first.
Do yourself a favor forget about PSN and disconnect your PS3 from the internet if your over 3.55....
