Service Mode - what other options?
Service Mode - what other options? –
So I'm just curious and didn't see much in the way of what other options we have when dealing with Service Mode other than a downgrade? Does it give elevated permissions when dealing with the firmware or the ability to pull problem codes (i.e. in the case of the RSOD) for the various errors? The reason I ask is I have a RSOD system I've been tinkering with for a while - I've done a couple firmware downgrades on the system (3.42 to 3.41 to 3.21 to 3.15 to 2.53, etc.) in hopes of repairing the damaged info on the NAND - it appears (if I'm reading the log correctly) that the system flashes the nand correctly as no errors are indicated... I may be wrong in reading through the log however. Anyways, just curious as to what else has been discovered via the Service Mode... if anything

I have the same prob, RSOD, the ps3 downgraded fine according to the log but RSOD keeps coming back, and I don't think service mode is the answer but it could be part of it.
is 2.53 the farthest you went back? i would go back as far as you can.
