Rotating arrows in XMB - Serious or not?
Rotating arrows in XMB - Serious or not? –
Hi I hope someone can advise me cos I`m stumped by this one...
Title says it all really.
XMB seems to freeze on the rotating arrows on startup in the PS3 Game / Mem card / Install package options. Seems intermittent. Does it with LV2 payload not loaded as well as loaded.
Running Kmaew CFW on a 2003A Slim.
Tried downgrading to 3.15 again > 3.41 > OFW 3.55 > CFW 3.55 > same result.
No games on internal, just toy story installed via Shadow copy - Eboot fix - Multiman latest.
Thought it could be HD fault, so removed, made NTFS partition doing surface scan right now. Nothing found thus far.
HD is a Samsung Spinright 500GB. Tried testing with HUTIL and other stuff on Hiren boot cd.
Any thoughts? Could it be a glitch in the Kmaew pup? MD5 matches.
Cheers in advance ladies and gents...
I had 1 thought until I read this.. "Thought it could be HD fault, so removed, made NTFS partition doing surface scan right now. Nothing found thus far.".
Bump for others to see.
I'd still go with it being the hard drive. The best thing you could have done before putting it in your pc was to use 'Restore File System' and 'Restore Database' from recovery mode. I work at a console repair company fixing PS3 and see this all the time, even if the hard drive is physically fine the PS3 file system or database can become corrupted pretty easily. The two listed options in recovery mode always fix the problem on OFW or CFW.
A reformat did it. I think the restore filesystem would have worked too.
A surface scan showed no problems. Low level formatted.
Drive nearly new and under warranty so not too bothered. Thank you people for your replies!!!
