I notice we have a case mods sub thread for the PS2 but no case mods for the PS3. I know i plan on doing case mods for my Phat PS3 since they dont sell anything premade of any use. just a humble request to finally get some kinda talks about what works and what doesn't when case modding the PS3. just a few case mods i've done for xbox and xbox 360

I wouldn't mind seeing a clear case or maybe a cool cut-out logo filled in with clear acrylic sheet that lights up from underneath

hey that sounds like a good idea. I just wonder how i can get a sheet made that has the same curved nature of the PS3 hmmmm. I just hope my request for a new thread doesn't fall on deaf ears maybe I'll make a poll for it.

there's no need to do a poll. You would need to come up with at least a few sketches or a tutorial on how to do it and post it in the member's news submission section. I think a lot of cool stuff could be done with the logo cutout idea. You could even do certain character's like the guy from Infamous (Cole????) standing with his arms stretched down shooting electricity from his arms. Depending on what kind of lighting you could find the lightning/electricity could pulse like the real deal. You'd also have to figure out some kind of blinder so that only the parts you want to light up would and you could have different light colors/schemes for different parts of the design. That same idea applies to the Star Wars franchise with the Force Lightning. If you put the time in, you could probably start making them and selling them if you're skilled enough to do it and make it look great. Hell, you might even be able to quit your job and just work for yourself. Just remember me when you hit the big time

Edit: If you do start selling them, remember to get permission/licensing from the copyright owners or you'll spend a lot of time in court. Most companies would let you license their products for a cut of the profits if you stay with the original concept and don't half-ass it

You would have to mold it yourself with a heat gun. You would probably have to make a mold of your case first (probably both sides) so as you apply heat with the gun you can apply pressure to form it to what you need. It's doable but the thicker the acrylic, the longer it will take to mold. You gotta find a balance of what looks good and what's easy to work with

not make different part colored and making molds and make clear cases sounds like something i can do but ART lmao not my department. if only someone skilled with art can make me some concepts and what not we can get the thread started so people can share ideas

Yeah, I can do the physical modifications, but I don't have a hand or eye for creating artwork - I'm more of an idea man on that end of it. You should probably contact rstabbs71 or some of the other contributors to the MK + GTA mods. I was in contact recently with rstabbs71 and I don't want to share the info he sent me in a private message, but he is known to be a resident artist on here. I was impressed with some of the work that they have done and they seem to be willing to help out if he/they (2 people) like the project

sweet because my idea is to make clear case for the Phat PS3s but i want them to have the "Playstation 3" thing on the top face plat and i cant draw to save my life
