If you have a dremil and don't care about potential damage to the HDD, you can cut the heads off, but I usually use some strong plyers to turn it when I get stripped heads, or I use a dremil to turn the screw into a flathead and get it out that way.

Or you can check the PS3 website and see if they sell them individually since I'm sure they realize that the screws do get stripped pretty easily.
I upgraded from 80gb to 500gb there are 2 versions of 3.41 just go here http://ps3break.com/ they have a dl link on page and you have to make sure you have same version on ps3 so reinstall 3.41 on ps3 harddrive then switch then you will be good because I kept getting error need updated version of 3.41 or later until I did it that way

I don't want to start new thread so i'll ask here - does it matter if new hdd i want to install is 5600rpm or 7200rpm? Can i install 7200rpm and will it work?
The 7200rpm has performance benefits, though marginal.
