Repairing video problem, anyone done it?
I have this CECHA01 I got stuck with from ebay that has video problems, after a minute or so it gets a bit pixelated then video output locks up solid. I'm 99% sure it's a hardware problem as I've been able to format it and reinstall FW, but the video output always locks up.
I thought it could be full of dust but when I opened it I found that it might be a YLOD repair gone wrong, no dust at all and signs that a moron had been inside. The CMOS battery pins were mangled, and it had the worst thermal paste job I've ever seen. I cleaned it up and used some arctic silver paste, and repaired the CMOS pins while I was in there, but as I anticipated I get the same results with the video output.
And that is about my limit of being a ps3 repairman. I'm not sure if I just want to blast the thing with a heatgun, I'd hate to break something that someone more competent may be able to fix. As much as I'd like to fix it, I think my best option might be to sell it as-is. Since I'm in no hurry to sell it I figured I would post this up and see if anyone with experience would maybe have some insight.
