Region Free Blu Ray Player??
Region Free Blu Ray Player?? –

The title says it all. One of the first and most useful hacks/mods to come out for the PS2 was a region selector from Datel that let you play DVD's from any region.
Anyone know if this is in the works for PS3 and Blu Ray? It looks like games are all going to be region free (developers discression apparently) so hopefully a hack or Linux based region free blu ray player will appear sometime soon
Any info would be appreciated.

Apparently so. Region-free Blu-ray isn't such a big deal for people like me (US and Japan are both Region A), but for Europeans, it's a bigger deal (Europe = Region B, I believe.) What I really would like to see is a way to do region free for DVD (as US and Japan are in different regions.) I'm not holding my breath on any of this, though, seeing as all most people here want to do is pirate GT5.

whats the status of this?

THE STATUS IS,
rent blurays out or get them from other means
rip em with anydvd (removes region lock) then either burn off using image burn or any other burning program that you like to use.
if you dont have a bdr burnner then you can use bd builder to shrink the whole movie down to fit a dvdr with no loss in qaulity.
this works 100% but if youve got a slow pc it will take you days to do,my set up is q6600 Oc @ 3.4 (qaud)
8gig ram
an it takes me 2-3 hours start to finish.
heres a great link for the tut to back up 1 for 1 copys of bluray
http://www.corusa.com/public/Blu-Ray...de_milOtis.pdf
dont know if its against site rules but i would do back-ups
at a £5 if allowed, for those that are struggling to make region FREE back ups
